I love having sessions with this little one. She is adorable and has the best laugh. I love her imagination too. I can't believe that she is 4 already!
Blog-tober
Fall is here! It’s time for home-made soups, crisp nights by the fire, falling leaves, apple pie and my absolute favorite, ANYTHING pumpkin.
I am so far behind on my blog, so that is why I hereby declare October 2013 as “Blog-tober”!! I am going to try my hardest to post a new blog each and every day this month. I may need you to gently nudge me some days ;) So please, check in every day to see what I have been up to the last few months.

One of my favorite sessions are 1 year cake smash sessions. You never know what reaction you are going to get. Some babies hate the cake and feeling dirty and some love it, this little one LOVED it!
Miracles for Melanie Fundraiser

Instead of participating in a fundraiser, which I enjoy so much, I am hosting my first ever event.
Back in October at my Trick or Treat Customer Appreciation Event I had the pleasure of meeting Melanie Cole. She showed up with Raggedy Anne and Andy and we hit it off immediately. I had the pleasure of doing a follow-up photo shoot with her beautiful family.
I remember thinking “what a perfect family”. They were loving and had such a good time together. A few months later those thoughts came back to haunt me. I found out Melanie, a young mom of 2 kids and wife had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
It is my goal to raise $2000 for Miracles for Melanie, to help support her family in this terrible time. I plan to do this with the help of my friends, family and you!
On August 3 I will be hosting an event from 9-3pm. I will have several summer themed sessions set up; including a patriotic theme. Sessions are 20 minutes and you get 5-10 edited digital images with a print release. Not to mention you get the satisfaction of knowing 100% of the proceeds go to this family in need. This will be the only opportunity for summer themed mini’s this year, so book now!
In addition, my good friends are coming together to have a raffle that same day. Vendors include 31, Bella’s Tutus, The Barefoot Barn, a B.A. D. idea and many more. Yummy baked goods and artwork will be available for purchase….all proceeds going to Miracles for Melanie.
What are you willing to risk?
I don’t like change. I like comfortable. Change is uncomfortable. That being said, I am coming upon a major birthday milestone, the big 4 0! Luckily, Gary has already paved the path to 40 in our house, but still it’s a big deal and has made me really think where I want to be professionally.
I love my job and can’t imagine not taking your family photos. Newborns, family sessions, senior portraits…you name it, I love them all! But I have been hearing this whisper inside me to branch out and do more. Well after this weekend the little whisper has turned into full out screaming and whistling “hey, over here, look at me over here…”!
The last year I have been dreaming of ways to take “boudoir” photos, although I HATE that word and if anyone has any other words to describe my vision, please, please share them with me. My vision is taking women’s photos to make them feel beautiful and empowered. I’m thinking tasteful, classy, elegant. I see pictures of ALL women, ALL shapes and sizes embracing their inner beauty. I see it each time I look into my camera lens and want to share it with you.
I have been seeing something like this for almost a year now. One issue has been location, having an indoor studio. I have been talking to my sister and other girlfriends, playing with words, trying to get this up and going and just hearing the little whisper within that this something I need to do. Fast forward to this past weekend, when the whisper became an obnoxious phone call and full on shout! It’s a long story that I will blog about later. Long story short…a chance encounter, a really, REALLY obnoxious sister, 2 sleepless nights and a few days later, voila!!
I don’t know how this is going to work and I am scared. It is unfamiliar and change and change is oh so uncomfortable! Will you take the risk with me? I need the support of my faithful clients to make this dream happen. Please pass this along and consider doing it yourself!! I am not sure if this fits fully into my vision of taking photos to celebrate the beauty of women and empowering them, but I am sure it is what is calling me right now to lead me into that direction. It’s summer, right? Instead of soaking your feet and playing it safe, let’s go to the deep end and jump off the diving board! Let’s do a cannon ball screaming and laughing our heads off together. Will you take the risk with me?
